U-Neek Learning is an alternative education facility set up for young people who have become disengaged from mainstream education.

By offering a variety of practical courses we aim to engage, educate and retain young people and to give them the valuable skills and confidence that will prepare them for the workplace.

Operating out of Rugby and Hinckley, our organisation was established with the help and consultation of the learners themselves and through our approach, we aim to tackle issues of disaffection, confidence and low educational achievement. Learning takes place in a range of settings and styles which includes outdoor activities, one to one coaching, group activities, discussion projects, external presentations, work placements and volunteering.

Whilst working towards gaining recognised accreditation, young people will also benefit from a focus on personal and social development that will grant them the key skills that they will need later on.

U-Neek Learning has fully qualified staff, all of whom have a wealth of experience in working with disengaged young people. Our staff qualifications include ten years of managing and developing an E2E programme along with the transition to Foundation Learning.

Additionally, staff have a number of years of experience in teaching key skills, functional skills, GCSE Maths and English along with a wealth of experience in business and enterprise.

At U-Neek learning we believe that every child should have an opportunity to experience success with their education no matter what their background or special needs.

We offer flexible short term, educational packages for pupils aged 7 to 16 who may also be on the autistic spectrum or out of school. It is our aim to ensure each student achieves their potential.

Students at U-Neek Learning experience the curriculum according to their need. We operate a student centred approach to teaching and learning and provide a broad, balanced yet flexible curriculum to all students.

All staff have the ability to relate to young people and their concerns, are friendly and are experienced in non-judgemental teaching, helping to overcome young people’s fears and barriers to learning.

KEY STAGE 2, 3 & 4 ENGLISH

Learners develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing that they will need to participate in society and employment. Learners learn to express themselves creatively and imaginatively and to communicate with others confidently and effectively.

KEY STAGE 2, 3 & 4 MATHS

Mathematics is fundamental to national prosperity in providing tools for understanding science, engineering, technology and economics. It is essential in public decision-making and for participation in the knowledge economy. Mathematics equips pupils with uniquely powerful ways to describe, analyse and change the world.

GCSE MATHS & ENGLISH

Maths & English GCSE tuition tailored to meet young people's individual needs. To include:

BEAUTY THERAPY

This is a three hour course taking place one day per week for 10 weeks. Students will learn nail art and treatments such as manicures and pedicures along with facial treatment, leg waxing and the art of eyebrow shaping. They will also learn how to tint eyelashes and eyebrows, make face masks and hand and foot scrubs.

In order to perfect their skills students will get to practice on one another with the aim of achieving a Level 1 qualification by the end of the course.

HORSE RIDING

This is a three hour course taking place one day per week for 12 weeks. Students will not only learn to ride a horse but will work towards Level 1 of The British Horse Society’s Horse Owners Certificate. The syllabus for this will include knowledge of stable routine, stable safety, care and maintenance of a horse, grooming, shoeing and foot care, recognition of ill health and preparing a horse for riding. During the course, each student will be allocated a horse to look after and learn to ride on. Later on, students may also be given the opportunity to work towards higher levels of the Certificate.

ONE 2 ONE TUITION

GCSE
By helping pupils to fully understand the syllabus requirements, develop strong study skills and prepare well for their exams, our tutors have helped many young people achieve the GCSE results they aimed for.

Anger Management
Our anger management programme is designed to help individuals learn how to control their anger more effectively and lessen the impact that this issue may have in their lives.

Personal & Social Development
We provide intense support to address barriers to education, low confidence and self-esteem, learning difficulties and disabilities, mental health issues and substance abuse.

U-NEEK LEARNING BOXING PROVISION

As part of our overall alternative education provision, U-Neek Learning is committed to delivering sports and physical activities as part of our learning strategy. Boxing is a key part of that strategy that provides our learners with safe outlet for aggression whilst teaching them respect and self-control. As part of our vocational level 1 sports award all sessions are delivered in structured, safe and supervised environment.

SPORTS LEADERS LEVEL 1

The Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership provides the ideal starting point for learners aged 13 years and over who wish to develop their leadership skills, whilst under the direct supervision of their Tutor/Assessor or other suitably qualified adult. The syllabus is designed to develop generic leadership skills that can be applied to a variety of sports and/or recreational situations as well as contributing to the personal development of the learner.

The Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership is a practical qualification in which learners must demonstrate their ability to lead others in simple sport/activity.

LEVEL 1 HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE

The units and qualifications will allow learners to gain relevant basic knowledge and understanding of working in the health and social care sector and will allow for provide opportunities for progression onto future Level 2 qualifications.

BASIC FOOD PREPARATION & COOKERY

This Level 1 qualification is ideal for those that like a more ‘hands on’ approach to their learning and allows students to gain practical skills, knowledge and understanding in the subject area

BASIC FOOD HYGIENE

This module is a self-study course which aims to introduce you to the basic principles of Food Safety and Hygiene. It is intended for anyone working in catering and for those who are preparing to work in the catering industry. This includes people wanting to work in hotels, cafes, bars, restaurants, kitchens, fast food outlets, and catering in hospitals or schools. It is ideal as induction training and will benefit anyone working in a situation where there is food and drink but is not involved with food preparation.

UP-CYCLING / SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

The Social Enterprise Qualification is learning through doing. Students plan and deliver socially enterprising activities while creating a portfolio of evidence; students demonstrate their learning by summarising their decisions and findings in any format.
